He married Hannah Mary Elizabeth Butler on 21 November 1923, in Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Burgessville, Oxford, Ontario, Canada in 1922 and Norwich Township, Oxford, Ontario, Canada in 1931. He registered for military service in 2019. In 1918, at the age of 22, his occupation is listed as farmer in Burgessville, Oxford, Ontario, Canada. He died in 1974, at the age of 78, and was buried in Burgessville Baptist Cemetery, Burgessville, Oxford, Ontario, Canada.

He reported for military service under the MSA (1917) at London, Ontario on 4 January 1918.
He arrived in England on 16 February 1918 aboard the SS Grampian and was transferred for active combat duty on 18 August 1918 and arrived “in the field” on 28 August 1918.
During his time in England before he was transferred to the 18th Battalion he suffered from mumps requiring hospitalization at N0 12 Canadian General Hospital from 23 Marcy to 23 April 1918.
Once overseas he was wounded in action on 10 October 1918. He suffered a “slight” wound to his left arm and was treated on the Continent, returning to duty with the 18th Battalion in Germany on 1 January 1919.
He served the rest of the war with the 18th and was discharged due to demobilization on 24 May 1919 at London, Ontario.
