Circumstances of Casualty
“Killed in Action”
While sleeping in his funk hole in a front line trench, near Neuville Vitasse in the early morning of May 25th, 1918, he was killed by an enemy “fish tail” bomb that dropped near him.

PTE LEONARD C. McMULLEN. SARNIA
Enlisted with the 149th Battalon, on February 4th, 1916. Transferred to 18th Battalion. Killed in action at Arras, May 25th, 1918. Buried in Wailly Orchard Cemetery, Arras, France. Age 20 years. Pte. McMullen was a all-round athlete, also a great reader and musician. He was a popular member and willing working in all branches connected with the Devine St. Methodist Church, Sarnia.
