He married Joanna Nichols on 5 April 1915, in Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom in 1901 and Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada in 1921. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 27, his occupation is listed as painter. He died on 17 November 1940, in London Township, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 53, and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Crematorium, London Township, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.
