This soldier emigrated to Canada from England.

On December 27, 1915, he enlisted with the 135th Overseas Battalion at London, Ontario.

He was married at the time of his enlistment to Lily Shercock living at 123 Alvania Street in London.

He was a 34-year-old clerk with no prior military experience.

He went overseas and transferred to the 116th Battalion a Witley and then was transferred for overseas service with the 18th Battalion on November 28, 1916 arriving in the field on December 3, 1916.

He suffered a minor wound to his left arm on July 11, 1917 and returned to service a month later.

He was granted a 14-day leave to the UK on December 13, 1917.

Returning from his leave he fought with the 18th Battalion until his death in action on August 8, 1918.
