Family Search: When William Denton Northgrave was born on 7 July 1882, in Port Elgin, Saugeen Shores, Bruce, Ontario, Canada, his father, Roland Denton Northgrave, was 26 and his mother, Jane Stewart, was 25. He married Mary Josephine O’keeffe on 21 May 1908, in York, Ontario, Canada. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 33, his occupation is listed as accountant. He died on 3 May 1951, in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 68, and was buried in Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This soldier served as a private until he was commissioned a lieutenant. He was then seconded to the 4th Brigade Machine Gun Company.
