Harding, Henry: Service no. 53307

Digitized Service Record

Has 2 sets of attestation papers with 2 different birth days. Note that:

  1. The present addresses are the same.
  2. The name of the wife is the same.
  3. The birth date is off by one day and one year. It appears to say September 6, 1873 on the type written copy and not September 5, 1872 like the incomplete, hand written version below.
  4. The top set were attested on May 13, 1918 and the bottom set are dated April 17, 1916 but no signature on the second page.

Most probably army bureaucracy catching up with Soldier Harding but how this error occur when he signed the duplicates?
