Wilfred was born in 1893 at North Scarle in Lincolnshire , the son of Dixon Arthur and Emily Cash, of “Hill Crest” Buckingham Road, Woodthorpe, Nottingham.He was married to Fanny Cash, of 43 West Street Arnold, Nottingham.

He went to Canada in 1912 and there enlisted as a private in the 2nd Canadians and went to France where he was wounded. He was then returned to England but returned once more to France in November 1917.He was subsequently recommended for a commission and returned once again to England to be trained as an officer. He returned to France in September 1918 and while with the 18th battalion, Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment) was killed by machine gun fire on 10th October 1918.

He is buried in Niagara Cemetery, Wuy, France He had a brother, Henry Wells Cash who was a Corporal with the same 18th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry. Henry was two years the elder and died of Influenza on December 1918.
