PRIVATE C.E. DIXON
Who died of wounds in the hospital at Etaples, France, was 37 years of age and went overseas as a Corporal with the 168th battalion. He took a special course at Bramshott as an instructor, but he reverted to the ranks in order to go to France.
TWO LOCAL MEN IN CASUALTY LIST
Pte. Chas. E. Dixon Died of Wounds, and Lance-Corp. F.S. McDonald Reported Seriously Ill.
Mrs. O.B. Dixon, 315 Ann Street, this morning received the sad word the her husband, Pte. Charles Edward Dixon, Infantry, is officially reported dead from wounds. The telegram states that the young man died in the First Canadian General Hospital, at Etaples. On May 28th, as a result of serious wounds consisting of gunshot injuries to the tibia, or lower part of the leg. He was well liked in Woodstock. He enlisted here with the 168th Oxford Battalion, and previous to signing up he worked in the Hay Company factory, where he had been an employee for nine years. He leaves to mourn him, a wife and three children. Olive, in Windsor, and Ivy and Alfred at home. The family came from England about twelve years ago.
