Family Search: When Private Howard Cox Avey was born on 12 September 1896, in London, Ontario, Canada West, British Colonial America, his father, William John Avey, was 27 and his mother, Bertha Lucretia Chittick, was 26. He lived in Ontario, Canada in 1896 and Middlesex, Ontario, Canada in 1901. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 19, his occupation is listed as labourer. He died on 4 April 1918, in Bailleulval, Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France, at the age of 21, and was buried in Bellacourt Military Cemetery, Rivière, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

PTE. H. AVEY DEAD.

Pte. H. Avey, who is to-day reported to have died of wounds, had been in France more than two years. He enlisted in Toronto shortly after the outbreak of the war, trained at the Exhibition Camp and went overseas in 1915. His home is in London, Ontario.
