Note the the Commonwealth War Graves Commission has this soldier’s reg. no. incorrect. It is listed on their web site and, thus, the CVWM as 1581042. This is in error. Please note that the LAC has the correct reg. no. and the attestation papers reflect the correct data.
SGT. R.J. HILL KILLED.
After serving 10 months in the trenches, Sgt. R.J. Hill, whose wife lives at 149 Symington avenue, was killed in action on May 9. Sgt. Hill received his promotion on the field. He was 33 years of age, and was born in Canada. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Hill, 572 Lansdowne avenue, has five sons at the front. Sgt. Robert Hill, and Ptes. William, Herbert, Walter, and Lambert. Sgt. Hill was a conductor on the Toronto Railway previous to enlisting, and attended St. Anne’s Anglican Church.
