Find-A-Grave

American citizen. Born U.S.A. Possibly born in England.

This man enlisted with the 33rd Battalion at London, Ontario on March 16, 1915, and was transferred to the 18th Battalion April 13, 1915, just before it embarked for England.

It is possible he was from Birmingham, England as he is listed as being a “Brummie” at a Facebook Group.

He also indicated he was single, but there is a record that he was married to a Mrs. Violet M. Wildsmith living in Ireland.

He was delayed going overseas to fight with the 18th Battalion as he suffered from VDG and required treatment which delayed his return to the Battalion until November 30,1915.

He was attached to the Canadian Overseas Railway Construction Corps from February 15 to April 20, 1916.

On October 3, 1916, he was reported missing and this was updated to “Killed in Action” on May 4, 1917.
