Family Search: When Private Frederick Core was born on 6 October 1892, in Forest, Lambton, Ontario, Canada, his father, George Hindle Core, was 42 and his mother, Bethany Gammon, was 38. He lived in Lambton, Ontario, Canada, for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1916. He died on 28 August 1918, in Vis-en-Artois, Pas-de-Calais, France, at the age of 25, and was buried in Pas-de-Calais, France.

This man enlisted with the 149th Battalion on 3 January 1915, at Forest, Ontario. He was a single mechanic practicing the Presbyterian faith.
He, along with the 149th Battalion, went overseas, arriving in England on 1 April 1917 aboard the SS Lapland.
He was appointed as Acting-Corporal on the same day and was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 17 November 1917. He was originally posted to the 1st Battalion on 23 November 1917, but was posted to the 18th Battalion on 6 December 1917. During this time, he was reverted to the rank of Private as he was proceeding overseas.
He was sent overseas and arrived with the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 6 December 1917.
He was appointed as a Lance-Corporal on 30 May 1918, and was promoted Corporal shortly thereafter.
He was killed in action as he was “Hit in the left side by an enemy machine gun bullet and killed.”
