Family Search: When Sergeant John Richard Lee was born on 8 May 1880, in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom, his father, Richard Lee, was 25 and his mother, Charlotte Robinson, was 22. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Foston, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom in 1891 and Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada in 1921. He registered for military service in 1915. He died on 25 June 1954, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 74, and was buried in York Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This soldier enlisted with the 18th Battalion London, Ontario on January 13, 1915. He was originally assigned to the 33rd Battalion but transferred. He served with the Battalion until he took in late April 1916. He served the rest of the war in England earning a Good Conduct Badge and the rank of Actin Sergeant in 1918.
