He immigrated to San Francisco, California, United States, in 1934 and lived in Dalkey, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1901 and Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada, in 1919. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 22, his occupation was listed as a labourer. He died on 20 April 1957, in Alameda, California, United States, at the age of 65, and was buried in San Bruno, San Mateo, California, United States.
Discharged from CEF for wounds at St. Eloi in 1917, he later enlisted in the U.S. Army and earned the D.S.C.
