Family Search: Private John McMutrie was born on 3 July 1875, in Manchester, Greater Manchester, England, United Kingdom, as the son of William A. McMutrie. He immigrated to Canada in 1913. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 39, his occupation is listed as labourer. He died on 3 October 1916, in Courcelette, Somme, France, at the age of 41, and was buried in France.
