He lived in Kent, Ontario, Canada in 1911. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 28, his occupation was listed as a mechanic in Blenheim, Kent, Ontario, Canada. He died on 13 March 1958, in Erieau, Kent, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 70, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 186th Battalion at Chatham, Ontario, on 24 April 1916. He was an unmarried mechanic who practiced the Anglican faith.

Going overseas with the 186th, he was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 7 April 1917. He was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 27 October 1917 and was sent to the Continent for active combat service. He arrived at the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 20 November 1917.

He was wounded on 5 August 1918, and treatment was transferred to the 8th Battalion for further service. He arrived “in the field on” 15 August 1918. He was wounded a second time on 3 September 1918, and invalided to England for treatment aboard the A.T. Australia on 5 September 1918.

He returned to Canada and was discharged on 23 April 1919 at St. John, New Brunswick.

Norman Cox Dies at 70

ERIEAU — Funeral services will be held Monday for Norman Cox, 70, Erieau, hoist operator at the Lake Erie Navigation Co., Erieau, for the past 48 years, who died at his home Thursday.

Mr. Cox was a member of the 48th Battalion, World War I, and a member of the Canadian Legion, Blenheim Branch 185. He was also a member of the Blenheim Anglican Church.

Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Cox; one son, Jim, Erieau; two daughters,, Mrs. Gordon Parker (Evelyn), Windsor, and Dorothy, at home; one brother, Arthur, of Blenheim; one sister, Mrs. William Kivell, of Chatham, and six grandchildren.

Canadian Legion funeral service will be held at the Bowman and Ford Funeral Home, Blenheim, Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. S. Fellows officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
