He lived in Grey, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 22, his occupation is listed as purchasing agent. He died on 7 June 1918, in France, at the age of 24, and was buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Aubigny, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
