“Killed in Action” Whilst driving along the Tilloy-Wancourt Road in front of Tilloy with a ration limber on the evening of the 26th August, 1918, he noticed a bright nickel horse-bit lying on the side of the road and got down from his horse and picked it up – an explosion immediately occurred which killed him instantly.
