He married Mary Dixon Bella Lameroth Demarsh Demers on 23 June 1918, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He immigrated to Eastport, Kootenai, Idaho, United States in 1919 and lived in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, United States in 1930. He registered for military service in 1915. He died on 22 May 1950, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 58, and was buried in Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Sniper

This soldier joined the 82nd Overseas Battalion on October 18, 1915, at Calgary, Alberta. He was a 23-year old meat-packer who indicated 3-years of service with the East Surreys and 6-months of service with the 79th Cameron Highlanders based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He embarked at Halifax for overseas service with his battalion on May 20, 1916, and arrived 9-days later at Liverpool aboard the Empire of Britain. Serving at Shorncliffe, England, he was transferred to the 18th Battalion on October 13, 1916, arriving in the field with the Battalion 2-days later. He served as a sniper with confirmed kills and became ill on May 1917. Transferred to England, he was deemed to be eligible for discharge and returned to Calgary to be so on July 14, 1918.
