He immigrated to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada in 1911 and lived in Maidstone, Kent, England, United Kingdom in 1911. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 19, his occupation is listed as chauffeur in Windsor, Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada. He died on 15 September 1916, in Courcelette, Somme, France, at the age of 20, and was buried in Vimy, Pas-de-Calais, France.

His date of birth is given as 13 December 1893 but records show he was born in 1895.
He was a chauffeur following the Anglican faith and lived in Windsor, Ontario at the time of his enlistment. He was assigned to “A” Company.
He arrived in England on 29 April 1915. He trained in England and went “overseas” as part of the 2nd Canadian Contingent and served with the 18th Battalion, during which he was granted 8-days leave to England, until his death.
He was killed in action during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette and has no known grave.
His Circumstances of Death card relate: “Killed in Action”.
His brother survived the war and was very active in veteran affairs in Windsor after the war.
His brother, Pullen, Ernest: Service no. 53273, survived the war.
