Family Search: Private Walter Graham was born on 1 October 1888, in Kirkandrews-on-Esk, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom as the son of Graham. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Merlin, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada in 1922 and Chatham, Kent, Ontario, Canada in 1930. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 28, his occupation is listed as machinist in South Buxton, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada. He died on 8 November 1955, in Ontario, Canada, at the age of 67, and was buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted in the 186th Overseas Battalion CEF on 3 April 1916. He was a machinist living in South Buxton. His regimental number was 880586.

He boarded the SS Lapland at Halifax on 25 March 1917 and arrived at Liverpool on 7 April 1917, and was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion the same day at Bramshott Camp.

He was then transferred to the 18th Battalion, arriving “in the field” on 5 September 1917.

Granted 14 days leave on 19 March 1918, he went to England and returned to the 18th Battalion

He was wounded in action on 28 August 1918 and was sent to England for treatment. The war ended before he could return to action.

He was discharged due to demobilization on 21 January 1919, at London, Ontario.
