MILITARY MEDAL For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in front of PASSCHENDAELE on Nov. 12th. During a very heavy enemy barrage, and when an attack was imminent he took charge of a Lewis Gun crew when his N.C.O. had become a casualty and opened fire on the enemy position. Though the rest of the crew became casualties he continued to fire through the barrage until the situation cleared. (A.F.W. 3121. 19-1-17)
