Family Search: Private Leonard Norris was born on 28 September 1877, in Farnham, Surrey, England, United Kingdom as the son of Edwin Norris and Emma Bates. He had at least 2 sons and 2 daughters with Sophia Emily Lloyd. He immigrated to Canada in 1912. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1931, at the age of 54, his occupation is listed as milkman. He died on 8 August 1969, in Chatham, Kent, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 91, and was buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 91st Battalion on 29 November 1915 and was transferred to the 186th Battalion on 28 February 1916..

He was a Milk Wagon Driver following the Anglican faith.

He arrived in England on 7 April 1917 with the SS Lapland.

Assigned to the 4th Reserve Battalion on 7 April 1917 with the expectation of serving overseas he was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 26 August 1917 and proceeded to the Continent for active combat service.

He arrived “in the field” on 5 September 1917.

He suffered a self-inflicted wound on 10 November 1917. HE was court-martialed for this incident and was sentenced to 90 days Field Punishment No. 1.

He was wounded in action on 27 August 1918 with a GSW to the right arm and was invalided to England for treatment of his wounds.

He embarked for Canada on 10 February 1919 aboard the RMS Royal George.

He was discharged due to demobilization on 28 March 1919 at London, Ontario.
