Lawrence H. Wilson, Active in Masonry
A prominent Mason and well-known Windsor druggist, Lawrence Hugh (Larry) Wilson, 68, of 430 Elm Ave., died Wednesday at Grace Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Cherry Hill, Ont., he came to Windsor from London in 1919. He was a director of Campearys Drugs Stores Ltd., Windsor, and manager of the London and Windsor stores until his retirement last year. He was a graduate of Ontario College of Pharmacy at Toronto and served his apprenticeship in London. He was also a veteran of World War I.
He was a past master of Ontario Lodge 521 A.F. and A.M., member of Windsor Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix of Windsor, Moore Consistory of Hamilton, A. and A.S.R., Mocha Shrine Temple and Hiram Abiff Shrine Club of Windsor. He was also a member of Central United Church.
He is survived by his widow, Gertrude (Jane) Irene; two brothers, James Wilson, of Forest, and one sister, Mrs. Jean Baker, of Palatka, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Charles J. Ellison Chapel, Rev. George Houston officiating, assisted by Rev. Nathaniel Cole. Special lodge services will be at 8 p.m. Friday under the auspices of Ontario Lodge 521.
