Found are two very interesting documents in PDF format. One document illustrates the hope and promise of an early victory and the other document illustrates the realistic expectations that a society faces after a conflict such as The Great War.
18th Battalion Christmas Greetings from The Women’s Canadian Club PDF offers a glimpse of the enthusiasm Canada felt to be involved in this conflict. It is a program outlining a Christmas Dinner that was hosted by the Women’s Canadian Club London, Ontario chapter. It has a wonderful picture of the battalion in formation and the Battalion Commander, the Mayor of London, and the local Member of Parliament.

The Soldiers Aid Commission for the 18th Battalion document outlines in pamphlet form the services available to veterans to assist them in reintegrating with society after military service.

One document deals with the martial spirit and pride of a nation before a war and the other still has strong nationalistic tones but the range of services offers only scratches at the surface of the bent and broken bodies and minds of the 18th Battalion veterans.
