New Soldiers Listed

One of the major endeavors of this blog is to list every soldier I find through researching the 18th Battalion. There is a Nominal Roll (1915) available digitally but the efforts focused at this blog is to do the research of the War Diaries and list those soldiers that are named in the War Diary. On the way other sources of soldiers are found and added to the blog. Having organized myself with a database an attempt will be made to update the blog links to the pages created.

On a recent pilgrimage to my Grandfather’s grave I noticed a part of the Mount View Cemetery in Cambridge, Ontario reserved for veterans and took pictures of the markers of those soldiers from the 18th Battalion to do further research.

The first two soldier’s pages added are:

Kress, Lorenzo:  53933

Bowie, David: LT

Of note is that Lieutenant Bowie’s attestation paper spelled his name “Bowrie” but that must be in error.
