Excerpt from a letter from Captain McKeough to his home sometime in July 1916:
For the first time in months we have a full complement of officers & more are coming shortly. The Colonel has not yet reached here, but some are expecting him anytime. Arthur Carlisle [chaplain] got away about 6 days ago, but none of us have seen him for some time as we have been kept up & busy. Campbell Gwyn, my 2nd in the Coy, son of Colonel Gwyn of Dundas & a McGill Alpha Deet [Delta?][fraternity brother] & we hit it off well – a fine chap who came out originally with the 1st batt. Other new chaps are Mewburn & Brown of Hamilton, Sykes of Toronto etc. etc…
