
March 1918 found the Battalion with four casualties. Of the four, two where due to action. One was due to illness. And one 18th Battalion soldier was shot for desertion.
On March 2, 1918, Private Edward Fairburn, from his records a reluctant foot soldier, was executed for desertion. He is buried at the Villers Station Military Cemetery. He was 22-years old.
On March 25, 1918, Private Thomas Luff, who enlisted in London, Ontario, died of dyspnea. He was invalided home and died at St. John, New Brunswick. He was 47-years old.
On March 30, 1918, Private Dudley Moncrief Jasper was “Killed in Action”. He is buried at the Bellacourt Military Cemetery, and like Private Fairburn, was 22-years old at the time of this death.
The last casualty for the Battalion was “Killed in Action” on March 31, 1918. Private Frederick Robison fate was due to enemy shell fire while on duty in the trenches south of Agny. He was 26-years old.
