Family Search: When Private James Wilson Aikens was born on 28 May 1889, in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canada, his father, Thomas Henry Aikens, was 25 and his mother, Adelaide Elizabeth Paddock, was 20. He lived in Wellington, Ontario, Canada in 1901 and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1911. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 25, his occupation is listed as lineman. He died on 15 September 1916, in Courcelette, Somme, Picardie, France, at the age of 27, and was buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay, Somme, Picardie, France.
