This man enlisted with the 157th Overseas Battalion at Bradford, Ontario on February 8, 1916. He was single and employed in farming. He went overseas arriving at Liverpool on May 5, 1916. He was transferred to the 18th Battalion from the 76th Reserve Battalion and arrived for active service on July 30, 1916. After a bout of influenza, he returned to duty on September 3, 1916. He was wounded on or about September 15, 1916, at the Somme during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette and died of those wounds at No. 6 General Hospital, Rouen, France.
