Far and oft our thoughts do wander To a grave so far away, Where they laid our son and brother Just a year ago to-day.
In the stilly hours of night, When sleep forsakes our eyes, Our thoughts are far away in France Where our dear Louis lies.
There are things we may forget, Of this there is little chance, Of our boy who for his country’s sake, Laid down his life in France.
