Family Search: When Private Albert Edward Egelton was born on 22 January 1893, in London, Ontario, Canada, his father, Robert Egelton, was 34 and his mother, Sarah Ritchie, was 31. He married Alma Orpha Ling on 17 September 1913, in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. He lived in London, Canada West, British Colonial America for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 23, his occupation is listed as postal clerk in London, Ontario, Canada. He died on 9 May 1917, in Fresnoy, Pas-de-Calais, France, at the age of 24, and was buried in Vimy, Pas-de-Calais, France.

This soldier was a member of the Canadian Postal system and is recognized in the Canada Post Heritage publication “Honouring Our Own: Canada Post Employees in World War 1”
