Family Search: Private James Fish was born on 4 February 1881, in Leytonstone, London, England, United Kingdom as the son of Frederick Fish. He immigrated to Canada in 1910. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 34, his occupation is listed as farmer. He died on 15 September 1916, in Courcelette, Somme, Picardie, France, at the age of 35, and was buried in France.

PTE. J. FISH KILLED

Pte. J. Fish, who was reported to have fallen in action, enlisted in Toronto with the 37th Battalion and had been about a year in the trenches. Pte. Fish was born in Leytonstone, Essex, England, 36 years ago, where he is survived by his father, four brothers, and a sister. He came to Toronto about four years go and took up his residence in Swansea.
