He died on 2 January 1916, in Bailleul-Sud-Ouest, Arrondissement of Dunkirk, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, at the age of 25, and was buried in Bailleul, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

This soldier originally attested with the 18th Battalion but was transferred to the 21st Battalion on his own request.
