Family Search: When Private Alfred Ernest Jenkins was born on 16 April 1896, in Bethnal Green, London, England, United Kingdom, his father, Frederick Charles Jenkins, was 38 and his mother, Louisa Ann Goodman, was 40. He died on 28 August 1918, in Ligny-Saint-Flochel, Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France, at the age of 22.
British Home Child
This man was drafted under the 1917 MSA into the CEF on 5 January 1918 at London, Ontario. He was transferred overseas about the HMT Grampian arriving at Liverpool on 21 February 1918 and was placed at Bramshott Camp with the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion.
After training and he was taken on strength with the 18th Battalion. He was sent to France 2 June 1918 and arrived at the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp on 17 June 1918. There he was trained and equipped in preparation for active duty with a line battalion.
He arrived at the 18th Battalion for active combat duty on 13 August 1918 and was wounded only 15 days later. He succumbed to those wounds.
