University of Alberta Student or Staff (page deleted)

“Ronald Hutton Martin, born 4 June 1889, Warwick, England; parent, J.W. Martin, of Viking, Alberta, Canada (so he states on his Canadian Expeditionary Force Attestation Papers), Martin attested with the CEF 12 May 1915, was commissioned a Lieutenant because he was in the Officer Training Corps at the university & had 6 months of militia service as a Lt. with the Edmonton Fusiliers. The 1891 & 1901 English Census listings give his birthplace as Staffordshire and his residence as London. The 1916 Alberta Census gives his residence as Red Deer, Alberta, birthdate as 1889, and his year of emigration (which I cannot access, not being an Ancestry.com member). There is an Army officer’s service record for him as a Captain with the Royal Munster Fusiliers (National Archives WO 339/77281) but no RAF officer’s service record in the AIR 76 collection, so he was probably attached to the RAF from his regiment rather than transferred.”
