Family Search: When Private Charles Herbert Riley was born on 13 January 1898, in Ladywood, West Midlands, England, United Kingdom, his father, Walter Riley, was 39 and his mother, Susanna Floyd, was 27. He immigrated to Canada in 1904 and lived in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1911 and Preston, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1916. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 18, his occupation is listed as labourer in Preston, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He died on 11 November 1917, in Passendale, Zonnebeke, West Flanders, Belgium, at the age of 19.
