Family Search: When Lieutenant William Tregerthen Sawle was born on 10 December 1889, in Welland, Ontario, Canada, his father, William Tregerthen Sawle, was 39 and his mother, Annie Jane Mcclung, was 43. He registered for military service in 1915. He died on 3 October 1918, in France, at the age of 28, and was buried in Boisleux-Saint-Marc, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

This soldier transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Corp December 1915.

“Died of Wounds” While proceeding to his Battery Position in the forward area, Lieutenant Sawle was struck by a shell which shattered his arm. He was evacuated to No. 30 Casualty Clearing Station where he died the same day.
