He immigrated to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada in 1913 and lived in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom for about 10 years and London, Ontario, Canada in 1915. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 24, his occupation is listed as wood machinist. He died on 9 April 1917, in Thélus, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, at the age of 25, and was buried in Thélus, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
