Family Heritage: When Corporal Edward Irvine Wallace Bavington was born on 30 January 1886, in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, his father, George William Bavington, was 32 and his mother, Caroline Susan Moore, was 31. He married Ida Mathilda Meyer on 9 October 1911, in Humber Bay, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1911. He registered for military service in 1916. He died on 8 July 1958, at the age of 72, and was buried in York Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This soldier enlisted with the 81st Battalion at Toronto, Ontario on January 3, 1916. He was married to Ida Matilda Frances Bavington. He indicated prior experience in the Y.R. and 5-years with the RNMP. He arrived on England on May 6, 1916. He was transferred to active service with the 18th Battalion on June 29, 1916. Within a month he was ill and transferred for treatment in England where he was eventually released from service in February 1918 at Toronto, Ontario.
