Family Search: When Pte. John Henry Branston was born on 26 October 1888, in Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada, his father, Frederick Branston, was 30 and his mother, Harriet Thorne, was 28. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 26, his occupation is listed as boilermaker. He died in July 1977, at the age of 88, and was buried in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada.
