Truman Bruegeman CHESLEY — Truman Bruegeman, 76, died in the Chesley and District Hospital Monday.
Born in Chesley July 13, 1898, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bruegeman. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at 18, and served overseas during the First World War between 1916 and 1918.
After the war, he was employed as a civil servant in Ottawa for a number of years and worked in Detroit, Mich. before he returned to Chesley, where he worked for Krug Brothers and Company, furniture manufacturers.
He was bandmaster for the Chesley Citizens’ Band, and was on the board of directors of the Chesley Public Library.
Mr. Bruegeman was a member of the Evangelical Church and later St. John’s United Church. He played the organ for both churches.
He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Wieck, whom he married June 22, 1940 and a sister, Coronna, Mrs. Thomas Lowery, Chesley. He was predeceased by a sister and a brother.
