Family Search: When Wilson P. Chamberlain was born on 21 August 1897, in London, Ontario, Canada West, British Colonial America, his father, William George Chamberlain, was 26 and his mother, Alice Maud Cope, was 20. He married Zola Belle Rhines on 30 January 1926, in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. He lived in Erie, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States in 1930 and Millcreek Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1915, at the age of 18, his occupation is listed as bookkeeper in London, Ontario, Canada. He died in 1968, at the age of 71, and was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Millcreek Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States.
This man enlisted with the 142nd Battalion CEF on 4 January 1916 at London, Ontario and was assigned the regimental number of 823470.
Shipped overseas arrived on England aboard the SS Southland on 11 November 1916. On 13 April 1917 he was transferred to the 18th Battalion and arrived “in the field” on 13 May 1917.
Granted a 14-days leave on 28 December 1917, he returned and was wounded on 15 August 1918 by a gas and transferred to England for treatment on 19 August 1918.
His wounds would not allow a return to combat duty and he embarked on the SS Scotian on 19 February 1919, for home.
He was discharged on 20 May 1919, at London, Ontario.
He earned a Military Medal for valour in the field which was gazetted on 24 January 1919.
