Family Search: When Corporal Alfred Donald was born on 4 March 1898, in Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, Edward Burnet Donald, was 32 and his mother, Mary Jane Dunbar, was 30. He married Mary Keehn on 3 March 1921, in Great Falls, Cascade, Montana, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He lived in Acadia, Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1926 and MD of Acadia No. 34, Alberta, Canada in 1931. He died in 1989, at the age of 91, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta, Canada.

This man enlisted in the CEF with the 143rd Battalion with the reg. no. of 737058 on 7 June 1916 at Calgary, Alberta.
He was sent overseas and, on 28 March 1918, transferred to the 18th Battalion for active duty. He arrived “in the field” on 24 April 1918 and served with the Battalion, reaching the rank of Corporal.
On 25 November 1918, he was transferred to hospital with the flu and his condition was listed as “dangerously ill”. He was probably a victim of the Spanish Flu.
He recovered and returned to Canada and was discharged from service on 22 May 1919.
