Family Search: Acting Sergeant Alexander Drummond was born on 4 November 1886, in London, England, United Kingdom as the son of Alexander Drummond and Katharine Sinclair. He married Emily Louisa Halliday on 19 September 1921, in London Township, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He immigrated to Canada in 1914. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1931, at the age of 45, his occupation is listed as shoeworker in Galt, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He died on 19 April 1964, in Galt, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 77, and was buried in Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 111th Battalion on 8 February 1916 at Preston, Ontario and was assigned the regimental number of 730492.
Arriving in England on 13 OCtober 1916, aboard the SS Tuscania, he was transferred to the 35th Battalion on 13 October 1916 and arrived at West Sandling, Kent. He was then transferred to the 4th Reserve Battalion effective 4 January 1917.
He was appointed as an Acting Lance-Corproal on 14 September 1917, but asked to be reverted to the rank of Private so he could be posted to an active combat unit. He was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 27 October 1917 and joined the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 20 November 1917.
He was promoted Corporal on 19 April 1918, and was then wounded with a GSW to the left eye on 8 August 1918. He received treatment on the Continent and returned for duty of 5 September 1918.
He was appointed at Lance-Sergeant on 31 August 1918, and appointed an Acting Sergeant (with pay) on 12 October 1918.
He was discharged due to demobilization on 24 May 1919 at London, Ontario.
He died at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital at Galt, Ontario on 19 April 1964.
