He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in London, Ontario, Canada, in 1915 and Walkerville, Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada, in 1922. He registered for military service in 1915. He died on 28 December 1974, in Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 78, and was buried in Victoria Memorial Gardens, Oldcastle, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 135th Overseas Battalion at London, Ontario, on 27 December 1915. He was a single labourer living at 2 Rathmine Street, London, Ontario. He was of the Baptist faith.

He, along with the rest of the 135th Battalion, left Halifax on 22 August 1916. Arriving in England aboard the SS Olympic on 30 August 1916, he was then transferred to the 116th Battalion at Witley Camp on 15 October 1916. He was then transferred to the 18th Battalion for active combat service effective 29 November 1916, and arrived at No. 1 Canadian Base Depot, Harve, France on the same day. ?he joined the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 3 December 1916.

Serving with the 18th, he suffered a pyrexia of unknown origin and was admitted to No. 4 Canadian Field Ambulance on 31 May 1917. He was transferred to No. 5 CFA on the same day and then to No. 1 CFA. Fit for duty, he returned to his battalion on 5 June 1917.

He was granted a 14-day leave to England on 12 December 1917.

He was again admitted for a PUO on 3 September 1918 with No. 6 CFA and then transferred to No. 14 CFA on 14 September 1918. he was discharged for duty on 5 October 1918 and returned to the 18th Battalion on the 7th.

He, again, was granted a 14-day leave to England effective 5 December 1918. He then rejoined the 18th Battalion, doing occupation duty in Germany on 25 December 1918.

Returning with the 18th Battalion to England, he sailed from Liverpool aboard the SS Caronia on 14 May 1919.

He was discharged with the rest of the remaining members of the 18th Battalion at London, Ontario, on 24 May 1919.
