Family Search: When Private Daniel Arthur Ferguson was born on 23 February 1897, in Southampton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada, his father, Hiram Jeslie Ferguson, was 33 and his mother, Elizabeth Wakeford, was 27. He lived in Bruce, Ontario, Canada in 1911 and Rimbey, Ponoka County, Alberta, Canada in 1921. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 19, his occupation is listed as farmer in Southampton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada. He died on 10 January 1926, in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, at the age of 28, and was buried in Kamloops, Thompson-Nicola, British Columbia, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 160th Overseas Battalion at Southampton, Ontario on 6 March 1916. He was a farmer practicing the Presbyterian faith. He had no prior military experience.
He arrived aboard the SS Metagama in England on 22 October 1916 and was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 23 February 1918. He was granted permission to wear a Good Conduct Badge on 19 March 1918.
On 28 March 1918, he was posted to the 18th Battalion. He was sent overseas, arriving at No. 2 Canadian Infantry Base Depot on 29 March 1918. He then was sent to the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp on 3 April 1918.
He served with the 18th Battalion and was returned to England where he served until he embarked the HMT Saturnia at Glasgow on 18 June 1919 and arrived at Montreal on 28 June 1919. He was discharged due to demobilization on 20 June 1919, at Montreal, Quebec.
