He lived in Baltimore, Maryland, United States in 1919 and Jefferson Township, Montgomery, Ohio, United States in 1930. He registered for military service in 1917. In 1917, at the age of 45, his occupation is listed as plumber. He died on 29 March 1935, at the age of 63, and was buried in Felton, York, Pennsylvania, United States.

Service records show year of birth as 1876, not 1872. Became a prisoner of war (POW) July 18, 1918. The other soldier taken prisoner was Private Henry Jack, reg. no. 651736.
