Family Search: Sergeant William Alfred Hall was born on 12 September 1895, in Canterbury, Kent, England, United Kingdom as the son of Hall and Elizabeth. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada in 1922. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 20, his occupation is listed as farmer. He died on 9 July 1970, at the age of 74.

This man enlisted with the 125th Overseas Battalion at Brampton, Ontario on 20 December 1916. He was a farmer by trade and had no prior military experience.
He embarked at Halifax, Nova Scotia for England on 14 August 1916, arriving at Liverpool on the 24th aboard the SS Empress of Britain.
He was transferred to the 116th on 15 October 1916 and was moved to Bramshott Camp. He was then transferred to the 18th Battalion and arrived at the Canadian Base Depot, Harve on 29 November 1916, and arrived “in the field” with the 18th Battalion on 3 December 1916.
He was wounded on 15 August 1917 in the left arm and right foot. He was evacuated to England, being transported by the A.T. Halyan.
He was discharged and attached to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 11 January 1918. He served the rest of his time in England, returning to Canada aboard the SS Orduna on 6 September 1919.
He was discharged due to demobilization on 19 September 1919, at Halifax, Nova Scotia.
