Family Search: When Private John Charles Hamilton was born on 31 August 1898, in Bentinck, Grey, Ontario, Canada, his father, James Hamilton, was 27 and his mother, Alison Cairns Aitchison, was 22. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 17, his occupation is listed as millhead. He died in 1943, in Chesley, Bruce, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 45, and was buried in Chesley Cemetery, Chesley, Bruce, Ontario, Canada.
